Project 3: Recreation and Skills Development

Recreation, sport and play are activities through which children get the opportunity to compete and interact on an equal base. Orphaned children and children that are having parents can take part in this program, as to give the orphans the assurance that being an orphan does not mean being less important or competent then other children.

The second part of this project is the weekly village program. This program is running in Mbapuka at the Makutotero Children’s Center and in Tjova near the primary school, until the Tjova Children’s center is build.  The number of activities depends mainly on human resources. Programs for children and youth, ranging from sport, play, homework assistance, crafts, skills, support groups and info groups.

Part of this project is also the training of the two village teams, where community members of Tjova and Mbapuka are trained as volunteers assisting the Philadelphia Foundation in carrying out the program. This ensures continuation of the community projects.
